Four Generations on the Same Ground

The family has held this land since the late 1930s. What changes now is not the ownership. It is what the land is asked to do.

First Generation

Roots in the oil camps, then land of its own.

The family's roots in the West Texas oil camps at Westbrook, in Mitchell County, go back four generations. The first commercial oil well in West Texas came in at Westbrook in 1920, the first discovery of oil in Permian-aged rocks, and the camps which followed were where the family started. In the late 1930s the family settled on its own land near Lake Champion, on the edge of the Permian Basin.

Second Generation

The decision to keep it.

The second generation stayed and worked the land alongside the first. Through every oil cycle since, the land stayed in the family. That decision is the reason the ownership position is what it is today.

Third Generation

A working cattle and farming operation.

Through the 1990s this ran as a full cattle and farming operation. Crops, pens, pasture, and the daily labor which goes with them. The family still farms and ranches here on a smaller scale, and the pens and pastures now also serve rescue animals. A century of work is in this ground.

Today

The same commitment, a different way of creating value.

For a century the value of this property came out of cattle, crops, and family labor. The fourth generation holds it now, remains committed to the land, and intends to keep it. What is changing is the method.

The family is now seeking qualified operators and developers. Everything they would work with is already on the property: oil and gas, groundwater, caliche, surface acreage, wind and solar potential, and energy infrastructure. The family wants it developed responsibly, in long-term partnerships with the right parties, not volume.

Ownership

Surface, minerals, royalties, and the right to lease.

The family holds all four across its properties. Exploration, drilling, water use, caliche extraction, and energy development are negotiated with one family, through a single point of contact.

How We Work

Selective, direct, and in writing.

Inquiries are read individually. The family talks with parties where there is a fit, releases technical materials following qualification and, where appropriate, a confidentiality agreement, and agrees terms directly and in writing. Respect for the land, safe practice, and a straightforward relationship matter here as much as the commercial terms.
